I found a few more things out after I finished this tutorial. You can make the fire a little bigger without disrupting the space in between the particles by bringing the "time before affect" to 0 seconds. This will essentially start affecting the particles right as they come out of the emitter instead of waiting a half second, makes for a much neater looking effect. And definitely mess around with the settings, there's a lot you can do with this.
