Yeah, it's not machinima, but the forum is called Community Video / Machinima...and it's my site =P

Anywho, I'd seen a trailer for this already, since I bought the special edition BluRay of Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince, but this is a new trailer. Here are the download links, these were ripped directly from Apple Trailers so they're all in MOV format (for now):

Quicktime 480p
Quicktime 720p HD
Quicktime 1080p HD

I'll see if I can't get em converted to WMV without a huge loss of quality or spike in filesize.

Now, onto the trailer. They didn't really show a ton, but the movie does look like it's gonna be pretty awesome. I've always been a fan of Harry Potter, I've read all the books more times than I care to admit, and yes, I have waited in line at the midnight release for the books...shutup.

One thing that caught my eye that I'm kinda disappointed about is that they're doing it in 3D. There's this huge 3D craze going on now with feature movies, but I've only ever seen one movie do 3D in a way that I consider to be "right." The movie was Avatar. My definition of 3D done "right" is when it's done for added effect, depth, and immersion. I have a big problem with movies that do 3D just to throw stuff at the viewers' faces; that's not for effect, it's for shock. I don't want to have stuff thrown at my face, if I did I'd have Poisonblood over for a visit ;). But in all honestly, this last film could very well ruin the rest for me if it turns out that the 3D is done for the wrong reason.

Another thing that I've known from the start and that STILL bums me out is that they're releasing it in 2 parts. I have no doubt that it's no more than a ploy to get more money out of it (milk that cash cow!) They will, of course, say that it's being done that way so that they can fit everything into the movie. My response? Look at Lord of The Rings: The Return of The King. That movie was over 3 hours long, because Peter Jackson had made enough money from the previous two films to pretty much be his own producer, therefore calling his own shots. If Lord of The Rings made more money with 2 movies than Harry Potter has made with 6, then Harry Potter is doing something VERY wrong. They should just do one long movie instead of making us wait 7 months between the two parts. It's ridiculous.

Despite all that, though, I still think the movie will be great and I'm very excited for it. I will, of course, be there to watch both of the two parts, and I'm sure I will enjoy every second of it.

So what are your thoughts on it? Anything to add?

I have read the books many times, and the last one quite a lot more than the others as it is finally when the books mature to a point that is truly enjoyable.

I think it should be very good but I do have some critiques.

1. Is the trailer showing both parts as it has been filmed or is this trailer only the first part?

2. In the 6th movie, they left out the entire ending...really had me peeved

********SPOILER ALERT*********

Since in that last part there was supposed to be a huge battle inside Hogwarts with lots of the Order, that is where Bill (I believe) got bit by the werewolf dude, and Snape jumps out the window with the whole of the teachers seeing, and yada yada yada.

In the movie, none of that happened...at all. Snape was barely revealed to be the Half-Blood Prince, you could have missed it if you yawned at that moment.

So, then how will this change the next movie...and what I am most afraid of is how will they change it to fit their purposes?

Those are good points. I've always been slightly disappointed by how much of the books gets left out of the movies. Of course, any time you do a movie adaption of a book you have to leave some stuff out, otherwise you'd have an 8 hour movie that no one would want to watch, but there are boundaries.

They left a TON out of Order of The Phoenix, and I was really pissed about that. It was one of my favorite books, and I hated the movie.

I think as far as the movies go, the third and sixth are my favorites, leaning toward the third though. As far as the books go, definitely the third is my favorite. Dunno why, I just love it.

Oh, and I think as long as they have plenty of Hermione in this one, I'll be satisfied. I LOVE Emma Watson...she's purty.

The Harry Potter series has been good up until the 5th movie. In the 5th movie it seemed all they did was train. Hell, I don't even remember a plot. The 6th movie was actually pretty good until the ending. For some reason the ending ruined it, and not because of what happened to the person...I just don't think that really was the...ending. It felt like there should have been another 20 minutes or so.

My favorites are the 2nd and 4th. (I have seen the third way to much to even consider it a movie, just an annoyance.)

I feel the same about the 6th movie. I loved it, but it felt rushed. Like they got halfway through the story and they were already at 75% of their time quota, so the rest squashed the last half of the story into 25 minutes, and it made it feel really unnatural. I felt there should have been more. I don't totally hate the idea of having the last movie be in multiple parts, because that means they effectively get twice the amount of time to tell the same story, I just don't like the idea of milking the cash cow.

True, but there is so much to tell that it seems all right except for the fact that they will not tell all of it...there's the beginning...turning 17(really only 17?)...escape/big battle...wedding...travel...infiltration...godric's...at that is only the first half really.

I've sort of lost interest in the series over the years. The last time I read a Harry Potter book was in 2007 when I finished the last one, and I can't even remember that last time I saw one of the movies. I'm sure I'll see the last two movies, I'm just not as excited about the whole things as I used to be. It's been drawn out for too long.

Well we knew from the start that there'd be 7 books, and when they made the movies we knew that there'd be at least 7 movies. In actually strikes an interesting parallel with something else that we all love 'round these here parts...

don't geddit?

7?!?

Halo?

BUNGIE!
