Aliens vs Predator 2010 demo

So today I'm going to talk about the new demo of Aliens vs Predator. It's stirred up quite a bit of talk lately, with a very wide range of opinions. I got the demo the first day it was released, and have been playing it ever since. I don't know why people have been bashing it, as I thought it was a very good demo, even though it's using beta code. The main strong points, I believe, are the aliens and predators.

Aliens: Playing an alien is quite possibly the most fun you'll ever have on your PC besides... some things ;). With the gameplay flowing seamlessly from jumping wall to wall, landing on a marine, and tearing him to tiny pieces.

The aliens game is more focused on outmaneuvering your enemy, and moving as fast as possible to him without getting shot.

Their main advantage is their ability to regenerate their health, whilst the other 2 races must use stim packs; Though being able to blend in with the dark corners and having acid blood helps.

The Predator: The sneaky bastard. Camouflaging, then jumping out of a corner to give a marine a blade in the back is very satisfying, though if pressed into combat, they are more than capable of fighting off attackers.

They are able to jump great distances using a "focus mode", which also allows them to see their weapon pickups. Yes, they get almost all the classic predator weaponry, though it is found lying on the ground in random places, except for the wrist blades, which you spawn with.

There's the combi-stick, which they use to throw at things, the disk, which works like the stick but much more accurate and lethal, the mine, which they can use for ambushes, and then there's the trusty shoulder cannon, which can lock on, and shoot a beam of energy at their foes. They also have 3 types of vision, normal, human, and alien. These all can help, and you can switch in a second to figure out where the enemy is coming from. This is especially useful on aliens, who often are really hard to see in dark corners.

The Marine: the person for the standard fps lovers, though he seems to be a bit underpowered in deathmatch. His main strong point is when he is teamed up with other people, and so being by himself, he can die quickly.

The aliens run often too fast to shoot, and the predator is invisible most of the time, putting the marine in a bad spot. There are quite a few weapons, though none too inventive, lying on the ground. These are the classic pulse rifle, the shotgun, the flamethrower, the rifle, and the minigun. You can probably figure out which is the best just by reading them. Still, if you team up with a friend and camp out somewhere with a large field of view, he can kick ass.

Along with all these races and attacks, there are "trophy kills" which are where you sneak up behind an enemy and press e. A lot of my screenshots show these. This initiates a multitude of scripted attacks depending on your race, and the enemy race, where you get an instant kill. These are blockable, though, with a simple press of both mouse 1 and 2 at the same time. If your stealthy enough, you should be able to pull it off though. This attack is obviously used most as predator, but aliens can use it a lot too, if they're taking the sneaky path.

The demo has been a lot of fun, and though it has a lot of faults, its a demo, not the real game, and it's using beta code, so im guessing most of the unbalancing issues have been worked out in the full game. I know that I'm pre-ordering this game, and I advise you to check out the demo, too. I will post a full review of the game when it comes out, February 16.

Wow, sounds cool. What are the maps like? Space? Land? Just wondering what kind of terrian is best for who.

Also,you should make a few paragraphs of what you wrote. Walls of text are hard to follow.

There's only one released map, and it's a marine base taken over by aliens, so its dark, long hallways with 2 big open areas
