BluRay is fun!

That's sorta a lie. I always hated the BluRay format, but I caved a little more than 6 months abo and bought a bluray drive for my computer and I have to say that, being a audio/videophile, I do love the HD sound and video.

Now, you all know that I'm a quality freak, if it's not in HD I look for ways to make it in HD, it's just better that way. Well, sitting here one night I thought i'd start another project (ugh, ANOTHER one?). Yes.

I have all the Halo 1, Halo 2, and Halo Was Demo cutecenes on my computer in their original format. The Halo 2 ones are even in 1080p! I have DVD Architect 4.5 which has the capability of burning BluRay discs to a standard 4.7GB DVD disc, which is awesome. So I thought...why not? I'm authoring a blu ray disc with all the Halo Wars cutscenes right now. When I'm done I might put the Halo 2 and Halo 1 cutscenes on BluRay, too. At the moment I'm looking for the best way to keep that 5.1 surround sound for the Halo Wars cutscenes, and I'm recreating the Theater menu from the actual Halo Wars game disc. Here's what I've got in Photoshop so far:

Pretty similar, huh. I'm also looking for the best way to make it so that when the viewer changes which cutscene they have selected in the list, it actually changes the description on the right side, I have an idea but it'll be pretty weird.

Anyway, I don't know what I'll do with this if I finish it, I don't think I can sell them since I don't own the property rights (though when has that stopped me before), but I think I might be able to work something out. The Halo Wars cutscenes, at least, are pretty useless on a BluRay disc, since anyone with the game can already watch them on their xbox, but the Halo 1 and Halo 2 cutscenes would be pretty cool to have in full HD!

Haha, thats an awesome idea. Thats a nice way to trick friends...ZOMG NEW HALO MAP CALLED REACH...and its only the trailer...of course you send it in an email or w/e :D

Did you read the post? I'm not trying to trick anyone, I'm rebuilding the menu so I can make a professional looking BluRay disc containing the Halo Wars cutscenes in HD.

Here's an update on the progress of the menu. I found the font I needed, it was Conduit ITC, so now I've got the font and everything, it's perfect:

And I've also, as you can see, mapped out the area where the video preview would go. Since I can't have that video peview I'm going to do the next best thing and just have a generic looping video there, of course with the Infectionist skull, check it out:

First video on the new media subdomain, fun fun. Anyway, I'll shrink that down and stick it in that black square above MOVIE DETAILS. And for the movie description, I've devised a complicated way of getting it to work. See the orange video selection button, that's it's own seperate image in the DVD program, so I'll just make the button bigger and have the text change for each one. I know that probably doesn't make any sense at all, but I understand it, so it's ok.

Anyway, it's coming along nicely.

How can you not know what I'm talking about? Do you know what a BluRay disc is? If you do, then I'm putting the HD Halo Wars cutscenes on a BluRay disc for HD playback through a BluRay player.

Here's another update, I decided to just sit down and work on it. Got all the buttons and descriptions put in and I THINK I can get this to work:

Tell me, if you didn't know this was a photoshop remake, and besides the buttons, what about this gives away that it's not just a screenshot from the game?

EDIT: Pretty sure this is going to be the final revision. The image in the background will be playing on a seamless loop and the black box where the video would normally play will play another seamlessly looping animation:

It says "Play All" on any clip according to your screenshots. The reason it doesnt look in-game(forme, does Halo Wars have a theater? I DIDNT KNOW!)it says play movie, :D Wouldnt it say play clip or something?
