Ever wondered how RvB made Junior look smaller than the rest of the characters? Well I did a little research on it and it was actually quite a simple trick, it's called Forced Perspective. The idea is that things farther away seem smaller than things closer to the point of view. This means that simple placing an object or person farther away from the camera will make it appear smaller because of perspective. Since Halo doesn't have any form of depth of field, which is when the object being focused on is clear and objects in front of or behind the focus is blurry, this effect is easy to do. I went ahead and had a little fun with it:

Some of them are pretty well done...others aren't. And I don't know why the gun is blurry in the first 3, nothing I could do about it. Either way, this is a good example of Forced Perspective and shows what can be done with this simple trick. The hardest part is lining it all up and making sure the small and big players are looking at each other.

This trick could, as you know from RvB, be used to good effect in videos. I've actually thought of a really good example of where it could be used effectively.

Looks pretty sweet, I tried this as well but you got it much better looking. Now we just need to incorporate it in some vids. Maybe some kinda miniture city with a big one?

Totally. My idea was talking about all the changes in Youtube, some people refer to as the death of youtube, and we'd have Youtube be this big huge guy and the rest of the people be tiny little things barely higher than his foot.
