If you're like me, then you're probably annoyed by the fact that our user counter says 84, but we only have maybe 10 people that post within a week, if even that many.
I propose to remove the inactive users. I'll know which ones are inactive by their last logon, and if it hasn't been within the last 2 months, they're gone. Even if they were really active befor that and they have 100 posts, if they haven't logged on for that long they shouldn't be registered here.
There are drawbacks. Our post count will go down, right now we have 12328 posts, it'll go down quite a bit if people who had over 100 posts are deleted, but I'm just so tired of seeing that many people registered and not posting. I already delete 0 post users after about a week, this'll expand on that.
I ask you if I should do this because I know it'll be a drastic step, but like I said, if you're like me, you don't like that we have so many people registered and so few posters.
I honestly don't know what we can do to bring people to the site. So many people that I would like to join are at HIH or some other Halo gaming site and they won't leave it to join here. 'm not going to add an arcade again, too many people signed up just to play the games and never made a post. That's not what this site is about. What I don't understand is the people who register and think that's all they need to do. There's no way for me to tell them when they register that if they don't post, they'll be deleted, and some people are so stupid. They register and then say they don't know what to post on! I know this isn't the most active site, but for a new user there are hundreds of things to talk about. Halo discussion, bungie news, chat, movies, infectionist news, the list goes on and on. I can't keep posting movies and stuff that I make (I do make little movies here and there, no machinima though) because when I post it at another site, they just download it, say cool, then leave it. They don't even come here. I don't want to force people to come here to see it because they'll know I'm forcing them to come here. I can't advertise anywhere else because really where else could I advertise? Halo 3 Forum explicitly forbids advertisement, HIH has already told me that they don't want me to advertise anymore because, in their words, the site is boring and there is nothing to keep them coming back.
It doesn't seem fair that HIH or H3F should have all these people posting and we can't. I mean, complain that there's nothing to keep them coming back! That's YOU (not YOU the reader, YOU the person that says that). If no one joins then we have no one posting, no one posting means nothing to reply to, nothing to reply to means boring dead site. Advertisement should bring in members who will post, thus giving the other prospective members reason to register and reply, thus making more conversation...rinse, repeat.
I ask you all to advertise wherever possible. Xbox Live, other gaming sites, real life, anywhere you think there might be people who would make this site more active, because I am sick of coming here and only having 1 or 2 things to reply to, then having to find something else to reply to.
And I'm not by any means asking any of you to go and post something in every thread here, just don't ignore the ones that you do see. I post stuff in Show Off all the time, and maybe 2 people here will reply to it (KJdog and Pressure). I post videos in the Infectionist Films section, and I might get 5 or 6 replies, most of them from the same people...why? We'll never get anywhere if the members we do have don't work together to give the new members something to talk about.
That's all I'm gonna say on the matter. I leave you to make the decision. _________________

Well there's certain people I wouldn't delete. Ze being one (I deleted the topic about him because he reestablished communications), there are a few others. Still, the vast majority of people who haven't posted in a while are people who won't come back and post again, that I know. For example, Tacito Al was very active a long time ago. I think he was Orbit's brother (Orbit used to be known by the name of Guitari5t), but they both haven't been here in over a year and they won't come back. If they do, and their accounts are deleted, they should know why and they'll make new ones.
I dotn know, jsut dont delete some people your un-sure about. And dotn delete Ace Infection, just in case. _________________

We shouldn't have to. Add the site you your bookmarks, or put a shortcut on your desktop, add it to your homepages, something. Install the toolbar, that's the easiest way. We can't all have to remember to remind the people who can't be bothered to remember to come back.
Anyways, I've done it. We went from 5 pages in the memberlist to 2 (with only 3 people on the second page), and we lost a lot of posts. It's good though, in a way, because now we can have our "fresh start". Now we're free of the number of members we had REGISTERED, who never posted. Halfway through I thought about updating the script that I'm using to delete the members, so it'll send them an email when they get deleted. But I thought...if the person hasn't remembered to come back then we don't need them here. If they like this place, there's no reason they should forget about it. If their emails are even active, then they get ample reminders when I send out board-wide emails, so most likely either theey ignore those, or their emails are not active anymore. If that be the case, then either way I don't want hem here. I don't want to have to remember to remind people to come here. If they can't remember then it doesn't mean enough to them. Thinking that alone is enough to hurt my pride. I mean, it's one thing to come on everyday and not have any new posts. Not have anything to DO, but to see actual proof that some people just can't be bothered to remember us, it hurts, and it doesn't seem fair, I've put in so much work. _________________
