Post subject: I don't know how much longer... |

I don't know how much longer I can run this site. I lost my job again, and even if money issues weren't...an issue, we might be homeless in a matter of a week. The people we're living with, who we were very good friends with before living here, have decided they've had enough. I warned them that this would happen before we ever moved in, that the best way to ruin a friendship is to live with your friends, and I hate to say I told you so.
Here's what happened, from my perspective. The house is two stories, split level (meaning when you walk in the front door their is a half stairway going up and another going down). Each door locks from both the inside and out, there is no bolt on the inside, you have to have a key to lock it from either side. There is a key that we use to lock and unlock the doors and it's usually in the back door, since that's the most commonly used door (when they take their dogs out to go to the bathroom. They enter and leave through the garage). Well, it was pissing rain last night, lightning and thunder, the works. The back porch is under the deck on the second floor, and the rain comes right through the slatted wood planks, so we went out front where the entryway is covered to smoke. I couldn't find my keys so I grabbed the key from the back door and used it to unlock the front door, which has never been an issue in the past, the key is meant to be used throughout the house. Around 11:30pm our friend, Ana, knocked on our door and asked if we knew where the key to the back door was. We told her that we'd used it to unlock the front door so we could smoke without being rained on. Her reply was to raise her voice and say something along these lines:
"What the hell is it doing up there, it doesn't go up there! Just please please please don't take the key out of the back door!"
She has a very annoying, squeaky voice, so this was a painful encounter. What's more, when she opened the door, her rottweiler comes charging into our room, knocking our stuff over and jumping up on our bed. Then she slams our door and opens the bathroom door, my cat was in the bathroom, so I immediately rushed to the door and opened it because I didn't want her doing something to my cat. Later that night, when we went out to smoke before bed, we learned that she'd taken the key out of the back door and put it in her room, so that we couldn't use it at all.
Next morning, I wake up around 9:30am and go have a cigarette. The key is in the door, her dog is outside. She comes out to get the dog and when she closes the door she takes the key back out of the door. Thinking she'd locked me out, I jumped up and opened the door, then told her:
"If you're gonna bitch at us for using the key in the other door, maybe you should leave the key in the door, too."
She didn't like that, lost her temper, yelled at me (again, painful), and called her daddy. According to her, her dad told her he was going to reimburse us for the remaining week that we were going to live here (we're supposed to be out by the 15th), so now we have to be out by the end of this week. Of course, not being a person to let myself be walked on (if you know anything about me at all, you know I'm very proud, I don't let people walk on me), you must know that I yelled right back at her, basically saying I'd like to see her try to kick us out, we never signed any paperwork, so they've got nothing to cancel, we can't be evicted.
Anyway, I went upstairs to get some food earlier and both Ana and the other female roommate are up there talking, Ana is telling the other one "exactly" (in her words) what happened this morning. I stopped on my way out to simply say "Ana, I'm sorry for the way I acted this morning, it was out of line." I didn't get to finish that sentence, I was immediately set upon by both girls. Apparently I'm lazy, I hate women, and I don't care what anyone else in the house has to say. My argument, to you guys, is...why should I? We have a 160 square foot room that we pay $500 a month for. We get one drawer in the refrigerator, no shelf space, no cupboard space, no drawer space for our stuff. Oh, I'm grateful that I have that at all, sure, but I'm paying so much money for so little, why should I care what they have to say? It's not like they were using the room before we got here.
So the whole point is that, the way things stand now I won't have a place to live in a matter of days. I'm sure I'll have a place for my stuff, my brother lives too far away for us to live with him (plus his wife is so pregnant she's about to explode), but I'm sure he'd let us keep our stuff there. I can't afford to run the site, and without a home, running a website is the least of my worries financially.
I'm sorry, guys. I want you to know how much I appreciate every single one of you. I've known some of you for 4 years and some for only a few months, but I feel like every one of you is my best friend. Thank you for everything you've given me, I wish I could give some of it back.
I'm sorry. _________________

I'm sorry to hear about this dude. I tried donating to the site yesterday, but couldn't, so I'll try again with a different credit card soon enough. I wish I could do something, your in a tough time. I'm sure you'll find a place. Aren't you near where your dad lives? _________________

Here's the deal, my so called friends have served me with a 3-day "eviction notice". The reason for the quotes is because it's nothing more than a typed document requesting that we vacate. However, the document was written by the son and daughter of the owner of the house, and not signed by the owner of the house, thus it is legally null. It did serve some good though, without their written letter we would have no proof of our verbal contract, now we have that proof. According to Texas tenant law, an eviction is only legal if it is notarized by a court and served to the tenant either by US Post, or in person with a witness. When she gave me the letter, which was neither approved by a court or notarized, she knocked on my bedroom door, entered before I gave her permission, and put it on our nightstand. Here is a link to a picture of the letter, which I'll be copying and carrying with me just in case they try to lock us out of the house after the 3 day period is up, or in case they put our stuff out of the house, in which case I'll sue their asses into nothingness.
At any rate:

Take note of the multiple spelling, grammar, and punctuation mistakes, and the fact that at the beginning only Ana's name is listed, but at the end it's signed both Ana and Andrew (her brother). I've also, obviously, blurred out the last names and addresses, and, for my own peace of mind, mine and my wife's full names. _________________
